We are pleased to announce with great enthusiasm the launch of the "Lasciati Abbracciare" project, a significant collaboration between Mhug and the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of the San Carlo Hospital in Milan (main partner of the initiative).
The project, promoted by Doctor Paolo Guarnerio (Head of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department) and Doctor Pietro Iovenitti (Gynecologist of the department) is one of the initiatives that confirm a constant and concrete commitment of the San Carlo Hospital in promoting health and well-being of women and their newborns.
Babywearing is an ancient and natural practice which consists of bringing the baby into contact with the parents' body through the use of specific supports such as slings, baby carriers or mei tai. This practice promotes closer contact between parents and children, offering numerous emotional and physical benefits. Babywearing allows parents to maintain a more intimate connection with the newborn, promoting a safe and comfortable bond, while providing the baby with the warmth and security of physical contact. In addition to promoting emotional bonding, babywearing also offers convenience, allowing parents to carry out daily activities while keeping the baby close to them.
The “Let yourself be embraced” project, whose name is inspired by the guide book on babywearing written by Licia Negri, is divided into a cycle of training dedicated to midwives in the obstetrics department. The meetings offered by Mhug include a theoretical part, which presents a solid basis of historical-scientific knowledge on babywearing and ancient and natural practices linked to the well-being of the mother and newborn, and a practical part, which allows midwives to concretely experience the use of the different supports proposed by Mhug.
The active participation of the department's midwives and their full involvement is helping to make the "Let You Embrace" project a unique and educational experience for the speakers too.
Dr. Licia Negri, co-founder of Mhug, expresses her gratitude for this wonderful opportunity: "We are pleased to be able to collaborate with the San Carlo Hospital in Milan to spread this ancient and natural practice. The training of midwives represents a fundamental step to be able to provide mothers with a further tool that can be used during such a delicate period of their lives."
